School programmes on career guidance
Activities of SLAAS Section F was focused on its annual theme of ‘Career Guidance in Sri Lanka at School level and beyond’. Activities that were held by the section F could be categorized under three sub themes, viz; a.) School programmes on career guidance b.)Training & capacity building programmes and c) Networking and publication initiatives. In addition to the above, discussions with officials of the Department of Manpower and Employment (DoME), Ministry of Labour, discussions with officials of the National Institute of Education (NIE), and collaborated with them. Details of individual events were as follows: A series of school workshops on Career counselling were held in five districts (Colombo, Gampaha, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Galle). These programmes primarily focused school students, followed by school teachers and principals. Career guidance officers of the Department of Manpower and Employment collaborated in many of these programmes as resource persons. ...
